Photographing food, especially pizza, is not easy. Usually we’re too concerned with eating it, and that’s fine. But it does mean that we don’t really think about the best way to present it. Well look no further, because CentralDish is here to help.

First up, pizza!

DO

Pizza is better photographed from the side, and slightly above the dish. This way you can see all of the toppings, as well as getting an idea about how thick the crust is. Taking a photo from above a pizza is ok, and in some cases it works better (such as a super thin crust). However it can also make it look flat, so do keep this in mind. Try getting creative by cutting out a slice of pizza, but remember to keep it tidy!

DO NOT

Try not to get too “artistic”. Close-ups just don’t work on pizza. The toppings may be interesting but no one wants to see an abstract interpretation of their pizza. It can be pretty difficult to take a decent photo of a pizza whilst still in the box, so maybe consider plating it. You can find more tips on plating your food in our story here.
